Using KPI’s in RIMDrill

An important measure of rig performance is the time taken to perform certain repetitive operations during the life of a well or over a specified time frame. These are typically called Key Performance Indicators or KPI’s and can be used to measure how each rig performs these operations over a given time frame and how it compares with other rigs in the fleet. KPI data can also be used to establish a baseline level of performance metrics for each defined KPI category against which each rig’s individual performance can be measured. RIMDrill includes the ability to capture KPI data and provides powerful output reporting tools for data analysis.

In an effort to simplify the KPI data entry function for rig users it is tightly integrated with the daily IADC operations reporting function. So for example when the user selects an operational activity such as Tripping the system can be configured to prompt for additional information to calculate the trip speed related to the portion of the trip which is controlled (Restricted) and the portion of the trip where the speed is not controlled by operationally imposed restrictions (Unrestricted).

This feature provides companies with complete flexibility in deciding which operational activities should be defined as KPI activities and the degree of granularity used in their measurement.
